Life can certainly be messy can’t it? And for a person like me who so desires things to be in their place, it can be painful at times! God is really teaching me, that sometimes, many times, things get out of place, they don’t go as we plan.
This life/world isn’t what God planned for us either! He created the earth and all that was in it, in 7 days! This amazing paradise, where Adam and Eve could actually walk and live in His presence!! Can you imagine it? He had a plan and an order to all of it. Then humans made a choice to challenge Creator God, and things have gotten messier and more messy ever since!
So, what does messy look like? I can tell you, when you open your life to what God has and see the needs all around, it can be overwhelming. Think for a minute about your realm of influence, the lives you touch on a day-to-day basis. I would imagine every person you know has something they are going through, struggling with, whether it is illness, family issues, death, heartache in some way shape or form, it is reality in a fallen world.
AHHH…but we have HOPE! Hope in that amazing Creator of ours! He who has a plan, who is still in control, despite the mess His created has made. He is the definition of ‘hope’…the only hope we have of regaining order in our messy lives. (Romans 15:13)
And what He is teaching me, is that when life gets messy, I can step up, and pray for others, be there, meet needs, cry with friends, family, even those I may not know very well. Wherever He puts me, I can shine His light and make a difference. We need each other!!! And when I am helping someone else carry their burden, it takes my eyes off my own struggles. It allows me to be a blessing.
The burden in my life, teaches me how to help someone through theirs! I was talking with my 7 year old a couple weeks ago about burdens, explaining the meaning and that Jesus tells us that His burden is light and that we ought to carry His. She said to me, “Well, I don’t want to carry any burden!” WOW…she’s got that right! Jesus doesn’t want us to either…that’s kind of the point. From the mouths of babes! Sometimes you just have to laugh amidst it all!
So, if you are weary from the messes of life, the disorder, heartache, take them to the foot of the cross! I will if you will! Most of my burdens are much to heavy for me anyway, I prefer His…and I so need to learn from Him! I yearn for His gentleness and humility in my life….and ahhhh rest for my soul!
Matthew 11:28-30
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
